My first goal and ultimate desire is to show my love and support for fellow adoptive families. Sure, it's fun to put on an entrepreneurial hat and take delight when customers find value in the products I offer. But, it's more than that --
Before I adopted, I worked alongside my husband as a computer database application programmer. I liked the job, I loved my boss, and the pay was rather nice. I even got to travel the country to provide training on the software that I wrote. When we decided that adopting children was going to be the likely way that children would enter our lives, however, I wanted to have a career that would allow me to have flexible working hours and a lot less travel. I wanted to be at home for my new family. In the summer of 2000, my adoption scrapbook business was born!
When my children were old enough to start school, the increasing awareness of lifebooks and their importance to adoptees and their families led me to offer workshops and seminars to those that wanted help. I visit Wisconsin's neighboring states to teach adoptive and foster families how to write life narratives that preserve their child's pre-adoptive history and explain to them the reason(s) they were placed for adoption.
With advances in technology and the growing interest in digital scrapbooking, I decided to branch out a bit and start a website that catered to those that liked using their computer, rather than scissors and adhesives, to create memory pages.
Not long after, another new side venture became apparent to us. I actually got the idea for this site when I realized that the charm and bead segment of my adoption scrapbook business was getting too large! You see, some scrapbookers like using charms as embellishments in their scrapbook layouts. When I saw how many charm options there were, I knew I wanted to make them available to all people touched by adoption, not just those that enjoy scrapbooking!
And that's how we came to be!
When I am not busy with my three e-stores, my husband and I enjoy spending time with our children, Maria and Scott from Guatemala, and baby Sarah, our homegrown. As a family, we enjoy travel, sports, movies, board and card games, and Friday Family Fun Night!
